The challenge of walking the line lies in the ability of not losing balance while working on a human level. People in Ramallah and Haifa decided to walk the line while facing everyday life through photography in Israel and Palestine. The decision to do so could be perceived on the one hand as highly political on the other hand as human. To share personal pictures means to raise one‘s voice, to make statements coming out of feelings, thoughts, friendship, barriers, challenges, desires, possibilities, restrictions, advantages and disadvantages – statements on all the various topics that can be read in pictures that refer to the daily life.
ipsum is an Austrian art project. Based on conducting workshops all over the world that last several weeks, ipsum seeks to encourage people to express themselves, to tell their own stories and to provoke reflections and reactions within beholders confronted with other realities. ipsum aims to enrich the world of pictures by new and important perspectives.
From June 2009 to March 2010 ipsum was working with 40 women and men in Ramallah and Haifa. The project is implemented in cooperation with the Südwind Agency and funded by the Austrian Development Agency.
