The name of the exhibition VISIBLE represents the visible in the postcards that are shown in an interactive installation. In Hebrew the word visible is used in the word postcard and actually means the written text itself - the handwriting is the photo of the postcard and postcards are an integral part of this unique exhibition.

The photos present different aspects of daily life created in and for the Hadar neighborhood. They tell stories that intent to open perspectives for all people involved – the motif, the observer and the photographer.

The photographers, mostly students, chose to live in the complicated and interesting neighborhood of Hadar. In a two month photography workshop conducted by the organization ipsum in co-operation with Students Village and Tiverias 15 they discussed topics important for them. They expressed themselves through pictures to reveal hidden or less known aspects of daily life and make them visible. The visible and concealed is thus the main topic of this exhibition.

The exhibition allows the visitors to interact with the postcards on “hot walls”. As a highlight at the opening, the visitors are invited to participate at a “personal picture dialogue”. Big banners are placed in selected spots on Masada street.

Rachel Laurie, one of the organizers of the exhibition and participant of the workshop: “The results of the analogue photos with the simple pocket cameras are surprising and have a special quality. The originality of pressing the button of the pocket camera created some kind of new closeness and appearance for me that is now visible in the pictures.”

ipsum is an Austrian art project. Based on conducting workshops all over the world that last several weeks, ipsum seeks to encourage individuals to express themselves and to tell their own stories and to provoke reflections and reactions within beholders confronted with other realities. ipsum aims to enrich the picture world of the media by adding a new and important perspective.
