Cacuaco 2003
In Cacuaco, a suburb of Angola’s capital of Luanda, two photographic workshops take place during July and August 2003. The participants are 21 students of the Centro Don Bosco, aged between 15 and 22. The Centro Don Bosco provides elementary education and social counseling for children and young people in precarious life situations. The participants’ choices of topics are strongly marked by Angola’s civil war that, after having lasted over 37 years, finally comes to an end in 2002. In the participants’ photographs, everyday life between war and peace becomes visible. At the end of the project, the participants present their pictures in an exhibition in the Centro Don Bosco in Cacuaco.
